The Parliamentary Secretary, Laurie Ferguson, opened the ninth annual Caboolture Multicultural Festival in South East Queensland on 26 September 2009.

Mr Ferguson said the day promoted the rich cultural diversity of Caboolture and the spirit of friendship and respect for all Australians.

With more than 4,000 people attending, the Festival showcased a colourful display of food, music, dance and the arts. Over 20,000 of Caboolture's residents were born overseas, with the most common non-English speaking languages being Samoan, German, Dutch and Tagalog.
