Laurie Ferguson attended a picnic at Sydney Olympic Park on March 21, as part of Seniors Week and Harmony Day. The event aimed to bring young people of refugee backgrounds together with older people and included breakfast, lunch and a range of group activities. Mr Ferguson said many refugees came to Australia with young families and it was wonderful to see the community support them. The day was an opportunity for children from refugee families to learn, play and share experiences with older community members.
