Parliamentary Secretary Laurie Ferguson addresses the Australian Hindu Community Conference.
Laurie Ferguson spoke at the Second Australian Hindu Community Conference in Parramatta on April 11. The theme of the conference was Sustaining Australia through strengthening bonds amongst communities and included workshops on social services and youth issues.
According to the 2006 Census, there are more than 148 000 Hindus living in Australia, who come from a diverse range of backgrounds. Mr Ferguson spoke about the crucial role that interfaith dialogue plays in combating racism and intolerance and in building trust between communities.
