Meeting with delegation of young Hazaras at Parliament House in Brisbane

Representatives of the Brisbane Hazara community, Sha Hussein Hassani, Attaulah Naseri and Reza Jaffari accompanied by member of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission, Camilla Cowley, Laurie Ferguson MP and director Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy, Australian National University, Professor William Maley.
Parliamentary Secretary Laurie Ferguson met a delegation of young Hazaras from Brisbane at Parliament House on May 14. The representatives discussed their experience of settling into Australia and commitment to rebuilding their lives. Mr Ferguson congratulated them on their achievements and their dedication to education and family. The delegation raised concerns over the safety of Hazaras in Afghanistan and in camps in Pakistan and Iran. The meeting also offered a chance for Mr Ferguson to explain changes to visa processing arrangements.
