Launch of ‘One Step at a Time’ refugee comic book

Laurie Ferguson was in Adelaide on 19 June 2009 to launch a new comic book, which will teach young refugees waiting to come to Australia about life in their new country. The 28 page publication “One Step at a Time” was created by young former refugees from their own experiences and stories. The comic works through the challenges and hurdles of travelling, adjusting to school, learning a new culture and settling into a new home, by following the lives of three refugee families from Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East. The book will be used in the Australian Cultural Orientation (AUSCO) Program.
