How communities manage during times of unyielding change was the central theme for this year's Blacktown Community Services Conference 2009 ‘Learning for Sustainable Communities’.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and Settlement Services, Laurie Ferguson, delivered a key note speech at the conference at the Blacktown TAFE, on April 23 April.
Designed for local human service professionals, the one day conference aimed to challenge assumptions and provoke new considerations around community and sustainability. Conference workshops included:
- the transition to community sustainability
- cultural diversity in communities
- the use of creativity as an agent for sustainable change in communities
- a strategic questioning workshop
- using leadership to promote sustainability in communities
- looking at processes for the enactment of community development.
