The Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and Settlement Services, Laurie Ferguson, recently opened the new premises of the Baulkham Hills Holroyd Parramatta Migrant Resource Centre.

The move was prompted by the continued expansion of the services offered by the migrant resource centre.

It now offers disability access, training facilities and is close to public transport.

The centre, which has been operating in the area for more than 30 years, was the first MRC in New South Wales.

Its predecessor, the Parramatta Migrant Resource Centre, opened in 1977.

It was the success of that first centre which led to the establishment of migrant resource centres in New South Wales.
