Launch of the Diverse Australia Program and A Diverse Bridge of Understanding

January 28 - Launch of the youth-based DIAC community project A Diverse Bridge of Understanding with youth worker from the NSW Spanish and Latin American Association for Social Assistance, Jesica Varela (front) Mayor of Fairfield City Council, Nick Lalich (back right) and Laurie Ferguson.


The Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and Settlement Services, Laurie Ferguson, released the outcomes of the Living in Harmony program review and launched the new Diverse Australia Program in the company of 120 people at the Fairfield Community Hall in Sydney.

Mr Ferguson also launched a youth-based DIAC community project A Diverse Bridge of Understanding, administered by the NSW Spanish and Latin American Association for Social Assistance (SLASA) in Fairfield.

The launch embraced the spirit of diversity with a selection of African and Spanish food, entertainment provided by a Latin singer, Cambodian dance group and an African drumming and dance troupe.
