Laurie Ferguson joined members of the Philippine Community Council of New South Wales (PCC-NSW) celebrating the honour of an award from President of the Philippines, Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The prestigious citation - the Banaag award - was bestowed on PCC-NSW for its contribution to the promotion of the welfare of Filipinos, both in Australia and in the Philippines.

Mr Ferguson attended the January 24 award ceremony at Mt Druitt Workers' Club to recognise the valuable contributions many PCC-NSW member organisations and individuals had made toward achieving this citation. Mr Ferguson said the award was indicative of the strong sense of social justice and civic leadership that has been so characteristic of the Australian Philippine community.
